About the Role:

As the Community Engagement and Participation Officer you will work within the multidisciplinary headspace Primary team to engage young people, families and the wider community in mental health promotion and participation. You will build community partnerships, deliver engagement and education activities, promote headspace services, and create opportunities for young people to have a voice in service planning and development, including through the Youth Reference Group. You will also support strong referral pathways and contribute to making services accessible, responsive and youth-friendly.

Experience Requirements:

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

• Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of community engagement and participation programs.

• Experience working with young people, particularly those with lived experience of mental health challenges.

• Experience using social media and digital platforms as a communication and engagement tool.

• Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.

• Well-developed problem-solving capability, exercising initiative, sound judgement, and decision-making.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with integrity.

• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young people, stakeholders, and the broader community.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Strong customer service orientation, with a professional and adaptable approach in dynamic environments.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining quality and responsiveness.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.

• Commitment to professional conduct, including applying organisational policies and representing the organisation appropriately.

Qualification and Other Requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in either:

• Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)

• Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)

• Youth Work

• Community Development

• Social Planning

• Social/Behavioral Science

• Occupational Therapy

• Social Work

• Health Sciences (Health Promotion)

• or other relevant field.

Or demonstrated substantial and extensive experience in the youth sector.
