About the Role:

The Social Worker – Mental Health Stream provides culturally safe, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families experiencing mental distress. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker delivers psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, and care coordination that reflect the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework and the Centre’s holistic, whole-of-life approach to healing. The role supports people across the lifespan and actively promotes cultural identity, self-determination, and community connection as protective factors for wellbeing.

Experience Requirements:

• Experience working as a Social Worker in mental health, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, or community settings.

• Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and families across the lifespan.

• Experience working with people experiencing complex needs, including trauma, substance use, or family violence.

• Experience in case management, advocacy, and interagency collaboration.

• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from regional and remote communities is highly desirable.

Qualification and Other Requirements:

• Bachelor of Social Work – with eligibility for Mental Health Accreditation through the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

• Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)

• Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)

• Employment is subject to compliance with Sonder’s Immunisation Policy. Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, all vaccinations and immunisations required for the role.
