About the Role:
The Community Engagement Support Officer works as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to support the planning, coordination and delivery of engagement activities for headspace Edinburgh North. This entry‑level role supports community engagement and youth participation initiatives that promote mental health literacy, reduce stigma, and encourage help‑seeking among young people aged 12–25 and the wider community.
The Support Officer will use their current knowledge of headspace to lead the Youth Reference Group and coordinate volunteer activities, while being supported by the Community Engagement Team and the Community Engagement Lead. This includes coordinating volunteer-based groups such as the headspace Adelaide Youth Reference Group, and Family advocates.
The role will assist with preparing materials, organising logistics, supporting activity delivery, maintaining resources, and contributing to community awareness activities. The Officer may also support the delivery of presentations and community workshops, with supervision and guidance provided where required.
A key part of this role is developing strong relationships with volunteers, young people, community organisations, schools, and internal staff. The Officer will support the centre to maintain meaningful partnerships, encourage youth voice across service planning, and contribute to early intervention, responsive and recovery‑focused care pathways for young people.
Experience Requirements:
Experience in the delivery of community engagement and youth participation activities.
Experience with social media as a communication tool.
Knowledge and experience in using the Microsoft suite of software and databases.
Qualification and Other Requirements:
Current or previous member of the Sonder led headspace Youth Reference Groups
Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)
Completed or on track to complete within 12 months a relevant tertiary qualification in either Youth Work, Community Development, Social Planning, Social/Behavioural Science, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Health Sciences (Health Promotion) or other relevant field. Or demonstrated experience in the youth sector.
